Capitol Family Fun Day

Despite the pouring rain and cold weather, on 10/24/10, ACT-UP was out on the Capitol Steps to support Capitol Family Fun Day put together by the UC Davis Children's Hospital. There was a pretty good turn out even when the weather was not with us. We had our fun and we enjoyed talking to the people who showed up for fun in the rain day!

Fall Fun Festival

Despite the pouring rain, we came out to support a local partner, River Oak, with their community event for the kids and parents in the spirit of Halloween.

McClatchy High School Health Fair

After Lights On After School, we participated in McClatchy High School's Health Fair and talked to the local high school students and parents.

Lights on After School

Lights on After School celebration on 10/21/10 at the Capitol Steps was a success! We had a ton of fun and we got to see very talented performances.

La Familia Health Fair at Maple Elementary

La Familia hosted a community health fair event at Maple Elementary School on 10/20/2010 in the South Sacramento Area for the benefit of the children and the parents of the community.

South Sacramento Coalition for Future Leaders' PSA Funding

We'd like to take a moment to express our thanks to the South Sacramento Coalition for Future Leaders for supporting ACT-UP's goal of having our anti-tobacco public service announcement placed in a local movie theater by helping us with the funding. Thanks to Emily and the coalition for thinking of us. :)

10/2/10 Oak Park Medical Complex Celebration

On Saturday 10/2/10, ACT-UP attended the 2nd annual celebration at the Oak Park Medical Complex on Martin Luther King Blvd. There was a relatively decent amount of people who turned out despite the warm and humid weather for October. Regardless, there was good entertainment and fun friends who were there with us. Follow us on our next trip to the Capitol Steps later this month. :)

UC Davis Going Smoke-Free Part 2

UC Davis was the first to make the campus a smoke-free place and then Mercy-Sutter Hospital in Sacramento followed suit. This is a great step towards the cause of making non-recreational outdoor areas a smoke-free area. To commemorate this event, ACT-Up was there to show support at UC Davis.

On 9/23/10, ACT-Up was invited to a health fair put on by the California Endowment. It was a small cozy event and we had a nice surprise as well. Francisco Garcia came out to sign autographs for the little kids and the community. We got a few pics with him too!
